Yesterday was The Pinewood Derby that Austin participated in through Cub Scouts. They had been working on the car for a few weeks. I think it is really easy for Dads to take over this project, mostly because they are big kids at heart, but also because of the natural competitive nature of a man. I was proud of Chase though because he really let Austin run with his own idea of making a tank, and then let him help as much as possible. Power tools are defiantly out of the question for a six year old, but he worked on the design, sanding, and with the help of Grandma Colleen was able to pull off a very realistic camo effect for the paint job.Chase did the Pinewood Derby when he was in scouts, but this was my first time of attending one. I thought it was adorable. The finish line is lined with rows of the boys in their uniforms, cheering on each race even if their car is not in it. Austin ended up getting like 5th place, and then was voted "Best In Show" for the design! He was really excited about that!
